Employee recognition award goes gold for award season

Feb 17, 2015

Golden-Raskal-alone_story.jpgThis Oscar season actors, actresses, movies and others in the movie industry are being recognized for the efforts and high quality performances.  At Renal Ventures, our employee recognition program, dubbed The RASAKL Award, recognizes employees who go above and beyond to exemplify the RV Difference.  RASKAL stands for "Random Acts of Simple Kindness & Love" and employees nominate each other based on how they epitomize one of seven RV Difference Values.

Here are a sampling of some of the employees who were nominated for a RASKAL award in 2014.  And the Golden RASKAL goes to…

Madeline from Passaic

During one of our recent snowstorms, I came out of work expecting to spend the next 15 minutes clearing snow off of my car. I was surprised to find there was no snow on my car. When I turned around, I saw Madeline smiling and she said "It's all ready for you." It made me feel good that a co-worker would take time to think about me and my car, especially when she was heading home after a long day in the clinic.

Rachel from Philadelphia

Rachel organized the Kidney Walk Team representing the Philadelphia, Sewell and Trenton locations. She arranged for marketing materials and set up and manned the booth for the event. Rachel is a wonderful representative of Renal Ventures and gives back to the community. Thank you to her for all of her efforts to make this event a success!

Sherry from Keller

Sherry recently discussed acceptable weight gains with a patient at the facility. This patient routinely gained 15-18 lbs. between treatments. He had an access problem and insisted he would be alright, but Sherry convinced him to come in on an off day to dialyze. She then explained how his weight gains were shortening his life. She requested he gain less than 11 lbs. per treatment. For the next treatment he came in at 9.2 lbs and Sherry made a big deal about it to encourage him. After the third treatment he gained less than 11 lbs., so she put balloons on his chair. This will add years to this man's life and reflects the RV Difference.

Glenda from North Denton

Glenda works very hard to keep patients' medical records up-to-date and also responds in a timely manner to fulfill requests from transplant centers. She also acts as an advocate for our patients and assists them in any way she can. Due to all her hard work, we have had three patients in approximately three weeks receive transplants. Keep up the good work, Glenda!

Lani from Morristown

There was a new hemodialysis patient at Morristown that had a newer arteriovenous graft (AVG). The surgeon had advised that the AVG was not functioning and that the patient would need another access, and, therefore, another surgery. Lani evaluated the AVG and found that it seemed to be working. She had another RN evaluate the AVG as well to confirm her findings. Lani pushed to have the surgeon re-evaluate the patient's AVG. The surgeon found the AVG to be working and provided an interventional procedure, instead of having a brand new access placed. This saved the patient from having an unneeded surgery. Lani used her clinical skills and her gut to act on behalf of the patient and with his best interests in mind. She is a class act!
